According to a report, the group admins of WhatsApp will be able to restrict the other members of the group from sending text messages, videos, GIFs, documents or voice messages.
According to WABetaInfo which is a polular site that tests the upcoming features on the Facebook-owened app, the setting of the Restricted Groups is included in WhatsApp Beta version 2.17.430.
This feature of Restricted Groups will only be enabled by group admins.
After restricting other members of the group, the WhatsApp group admins can continue texting and sharing media in the same group.
The group members who would be restricted will be muted from the group.
The restricted members will be required to use the message admin button to text messages or share media on the group, and the message will need to be approved by the WhatsApp group admin to get posted in the group.
“A group can be restricted once every 72 hours but thanks to the 2.17.430 beta, we discovered that WhatsApp will be finally able to change this value from the server,” the website said.
Also, the reports in October said that soon the WhatsApp group admins will be able to choose if other members of the group can change the subject of the group, its icon and its description.
